The Interdisciplinar Team SCIArts will present some of their art works with the work processes, technologies and
concepts involved.
Interdisciplinarity is a basic principle to analyze and think about de contemporary artistic creation
and the SCIArts group -- which history has in same way been forged by the co-authoral and collaborative work --
uses that way of action to produce artistically and theoretically the conceptual, aesthetical and poetical
questionings in the contemporaneity. It will addressed aspects that involve the trinomial Art-Science-Technology
and the transformations that happened to the concepts of art work, artist and audience.
About the team: SCIArts is an Interdisciplinar Team that develops their project in the
intersection between Art, Science and Technology. The production of the group's works intend to express the
deep complexity that exists in the relationship of those elements, which are the essence of the human culture
regarding the representation of artistic-scientific contemporary concepts that require new mediatic and
poetic possibilities.
In order to reach those objectives, scientific theories and technologies in general are used to build poetical spaces
where the interaction man/artwork, artwork/artwork, artwork/environment and man/man are predominant.
The Team consists of a fixed nucleus but also develops projects with co-participants (technicians, scientists,
theorists and artists) who vary according to the characteristics of each project.
The SCIArts Group has been developing interactive artistic works since 1995. The main orientation of this
group of researchers has been the discussion and development of productions of art that have as background
the imbrication with science and technology. The several paralel activities of the individuals in the group include
extense academic activity and technical knowledge in multiple areas, allowing the management of events of this
dimension.
